We gave ourselves an extra month between purchasing the house and moving into it so that we could accomplish some projects and pay people to accomplish even more projects. Thus far, we/they have replaced the hot water heater, fixed the majorly cracked waste pipe, addressed the cracked beam in the attic, removed the downstairs free-standing fireplace, got the family room walls to a new state (removed the wallpaper border, patched the walls, primed and painted), found a rose garden in the raised bed of weeds, and the contractors are in the midst of refinishing the original hardwood floors and installing new hardwood floors downstairs.
The children spent Sunday afternoon reacquainting themselves with a yard and the sprinkler.
This photo of me reminds me of the demo work at our first house, although this house's work won't be nearly as extensive.
