Happy birthday, Joshua!

In no specific order, here are things I love about my husband these days:
• He ends princess fairy tales with “After spending many years together and learning that they shared similar values, interests in the same activities and a shared vision of their future, they decided to marry and live happily ever after.”  This drives Alma a little bonkers.
• He has a way of getting our children back to sleep/bed when they wake up too early in the morning.
• Every weekend he makes a great big breakfast, regardless of how busy our schedules are.
• He is excited for James to have ’little boy hair” (a.k.a. longish hair).
• Even though he falls asleep repeatedly while reading to Alma at night, he still insists on that time together and always gets through the books.
• He doesn't have a Facebook account.  Moreover, he told me last month, "I don't need a Facebook account.  Besides, I probably already have one ... it's like the phone book, right?"
• He still isn’t able to pet our cat because he is allergic to her. But he cares for her and loves her just the same.
• He helped me design the kid’s Halloween costumes.
• He will watch a political debate but keep changing the channel to a sporting event every time a candidate who he doesn’t like is speaking.
• He has slowly convinced me that staying home and being a "home body" is actually pretty enjoyable.
• He looks handsome in any style and changes them often: mutton chops/mustache; business suit/ripped yard work clothes, etc.
• He is starting to warm up to the bread maker.
• He is my favorite person for sharing a burger and a beer, playing tennis, singing made-up songs, and living happily ever after.
This outtake photo was taken back on our anniversary.  We sat out back, enjoyed the beautifully cool August evening weather with a bottle of champagne, a plate of cupcakes (vanilla with Hershey's chocolate icing, if you must know) and threw the ball for the dog.  I love this smile on Joshua's face.

Happy birthday, Darling!
