A Week Without Daddy

While we missed Joshua a bunch while he was in California this past week, we also had a really fun time as Team Chisholm, the name I give us when we really have to work together. Alma was the champ of being the big kid and helping me around the house a ton. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderfully smart, spirited, funny and caring daughter.

Flying with Two Kiddos

After our trip to Seattle, Joshua had to head to California for a week-long work conference.  The kids did a great job flying cross-country with me.  Can I admit that it was actually fun?!  Exhausting but fun.  (Alma is posing like a spider in the upper right shot.)

End of the School Year

Alma really enjoyed her time at the Montessori school.  She made good friends, had friendly teachers and seemed to really enjoy her time there.  Here are some photos from the beginning of June -- teacher appreciation week, Father's Day breakfast, and a dedication ceremony for a new space at the school (complete with celebratory bubbles).

1.5!

All is well with James.  At the pediatrician's appointment, he weighted in at 23 lbs and 8 oz (20%), 33.5 inches (90%) and head of 19.5 inches.  Tall and lean, which the doctor said is good.
I can simply hear James's sweet little giggle when I look at the picture on the left in the middle row.  So sweet.  I'm happy I caught that on camera.

I have a ton to say about our handsome, funny little boy but I'm a little blogged out right now.  I'll try to write something in the coming week about both kiddos.

Seattle Vacation

We had a awesome time in Seattle visiting family.  Amy, David and Hayden were terrific hosts as we took over their home; lots of other family members were champs for coming into town, treating us to fun foods and attention.  We enjoyed the delights of Seattle -- a beautiful day of swimming in Lake Washington, visiting the zoo in the light mist that only the Pacific Northwest seems capable and tons of hide-and-go-seek in the yard full of plants and herbs.

Vacationing with two little ones can feel more like Parenting Elsewhere but this trip really felt refreshing and like a fun break.

I only snapped photos with my camera phone, so I will have to wait for others to send photos before I can share the whole trip and some non-blurry photos.

Beauty and the Beast

To celebrate my niece's birthday next month, Alma and I got to join some family members in watching Beauty and the Beast at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.  It was a fun show, which Alma watched through her fingers because the beast was a little too scary for her.  His makeup was pretty great and his roar was rather fierce.  She loved the show regardless and especially loved going out to lunch afterwards with her cousin, aunt and Nana.
