Happy Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day is a little different as our family unit isn't together.  Due to my thyroid issues (hyperthyroidism caused by a toxic adenoma), I chose to do a radioactive iodine treatment, which requires a week of isolation.  I'm currently isolating myself at my parent's house for a week to ensure that I don't expose Joshua and the children.  I'm feeling so grateful for my parent's separate loft space, their exemplary care, and that Joshua can handle everything at home.  I feel so loved and cared for -- what a perfect Valentine's realization.

Before I left the house, I decorated with some family photos so that my family can feel my love and presence. I'm excited to celebrate with them when I get home.  I heard rumors about a red velvet bundt cake - yum!  Although, if you have to isolate, I'd highly recommend my parent's loft -- five-star review for the good food, patient care, and lovely environment.  😀

I got my Garmin watch nearly a year ago (March 2020).  It keeps track of my heart rate, which I find helpful for workouts.  It also tracks my resting heart rate, which I didn't think about too much previously.  However, look at how much my resting rate increased in the last year in the chart below.  I went from 62 beats per minute (putting me in the "excellent" category on most fitness charts) to nearly 80 beats per minute (putting me in the "below average" range).  Wild.  This is what the endocrinologist was referencing when she asked if my heart rate has been increasing recently.   I'm really happy that we are treating my hyperthyroidism now before it got worse.

Happy heart day!  I'm so grateful for the support so that I can take care of mine!
